Zoonoses hosted an online webinar, ‘Intensive Animal Husbandry and Transmission of Zoonotic Pathogens’ on Wednesday June 8 2022.

Presenter: Professor Lihua Xiao, South China University, Guangzhou, China

Lihua Xiao is a Professor of Parasitology at South China Agricultural University. He received his PhD and postdoctoral training in the United States and was a Research Microbiologist in the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA during 1993-2018. For the last 25 years, he has focused mostly on genetics and genomics, host-pathogen interactions, and molecular epidemiology of foodborne, waterborne, and zoonotic parasites, and is mostly noted for his work in Cryptosporidium. He is a recipient of the Henry Baldwin Ward Medal, American Society of Parasitologists (2012), and one of Highly Cited Researchers by Web of Science (2018-2020).
