This surveillance study was conducted among forest rangers with tick bites to describe the clinical manifestations.<\/p>\n<p>One hundred fifty-nine blood samples were obtained from individuals bitten by ticks and 780 tick samples collected in the same endemic region were examined for the presence of\u00a0<em>Rickettsia<\/em>. Serum samples were tested for IgM and IgG antibodies against\u00a0<em>R. heilongjiangensis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-five (15.7%) individuals were shown to be infected with 5\u00a0<em>Rickettsia<\/em>\u00a0species, including 14\u00a0<em>Candidatus<\/em>\u00a0Rickettsia tarasevichiae (CRT), 8\u00a0<em>R. raoultii<\/em>, 1\u00a0<em>R. felis<\/em>, 1\u00a0<em>R. heilongjiangensis<\/em>, and 1\u00a0<em>R. massiliae<\/em>. Five individuals (1 CRT, 1\u00a0<em>R. heilongjiangensis<\/em>, and 3\u00a0<em>R. raoultii<\/em>) had mild illnesses; the other 20 individuals were asymptomatic.
